Be kind, be humane, be responsible, protect them from the weather! They deserve it!

Animals Requesting Friends is involved with many different projects each year for the betterment of animals in Wayne county. A very successful project is our "Put a Roof Over Your Woof" - Pet Shelter Program! Of course we encourage all pet guardians to keep their pets INDOORS but for the less fortunate ones (CATS or DOGS or any other animal) they need ADEQUATE SHELTER!

• Scope of Project:

In Illinois, people are required by law to provide domestic animals adequate shelter to protect them from the elements. Many of the calls ARF receives are from citizens concerned that dogs do not have proper shelter.

• What we did:

ARF purchased approximately 75 plastic barrels (not the utmost or ideal shelter but they help tremendously and are affordable) - for each barrel, volunteers saw an opening in small, medium, large and extra large sizes, stuff full with dry straw and spray paint with an ARF CARES stencil. The barrels are then ready to be distributed FREE OF CHARGE to needy pets in Wayne County!

• The Results:

ARF officers, members, volunteers and our Illinois Approved Humane Investigator distributes the dog/cat houses to families for their animals. ARF educates each family in the needs of their pet and how to comply with state and local laws.
